Pakake

This is a piece of work I drew for this year’s Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, the theme for which was “primitive art”. I really like Maori art styles, so I drew two beautiful whales infilled with Moari designs which was a challenge but a delight to draw. The left whale is a male, swimming with his female partner, in natural peaceful synchronicity. Sadly the drawing was not selected by the RA, but I have really enjoyed creating an A3 work of a style I much admire, with two of my favourite marine mammals.

NOTE: A4 artwork is posted flat in a card-backed A4 envelope, all others are rolled in a tube for added protection in transit.
